Personal Interviews
Face-to-face interviewing is still alive and well! While most of us can't imagine life without a computer and the internet, there are some surveys and projects that can only be undertaken in person using face-to-face interviewing techniques. These interviews still hold an enormous advantage over newer and cheaper forms of survey taking. They can acquire data from subjects who would otherwise be impossible to gather data from. It is incorrect to presume this method is costly, time-consuming, and labour-intensive. The face-to-face interview is still an extremely powerful tool for collecting data and should not be overlooked.
Professional Fieldworkers
Indiefield only accept interviewers and recruiters that are IQCS trained. That means they have been completed a training course with at least one other reputable fieldwork agency. We obtain references from the training company about the individual and make sure that their experience is appropriate for Indiefield. All fieldworkers are issued with an ID card and our fieldwork guidance book "In the Field". We require our fieldworkers to dress smartly. For men this is shirt, tie, trousers and shoes and for women a smart looking outfit.
Internal Field Processes and Checking
Once the work is returned to this office we hand check it and also conduct back checking in order to guarantee interview integrity and also to ensure that the respondent actually enjoyed the interview experience. We keep an eye on the performance of all the interviewers and also monitor the frequency with which interviewers obtain phone numbers from respondents.
