Face-to-Face Techniques

In-home Interviews

This very traditional approach is probably one of the most popular methodologies around. Particularly for longer questionnaires where the interviewer interaction is needed most. It is also widely used for in-home product tests. These enable respondents to test products under normal conditions in their own homes. Their experiences are recorded via a self-completion questionnaire, diary or during a face-to-face follow up interview. Products are typically placed with respondents for a week or longer. In the past we have evaluated all sorts of products from luxury make-up to pork and apple sausages.

Exit Interviews

We can interview in retail environments, restaurants, conventions, concerts and sporting events without any disruption of business. We've interviewed at some amazing events over the years including Wimbledon and Champions League football matches. By interviewing people in-situ everything is fresh in their minds. They'll tell us exactly what they liked and disliked, what they bought, how much they spent, how far they travelled etc. We can also interview shoppers immediately after they have interacted with the research category. The concept is simple enough - we unobtrusively observe shoppers as they browse the aisles. Once they interact with the category we approach them for an interview.

Street Interviews

Also known as intercept interviews, street interviews are a great way of conducting research. Usually an interviewer will work near a busy high street. These face to face interviews are usually only a few minutes in length. Just like exit interviews by interviewing people in situ everything is fresh in their minds.
